Lost Lynx as seen from the water

We are proud of our operation and company, and do the best we can to ensure a memorable experience! A lot of people ask why they should go with us versus a different boat operator, or the bigger boats.

Seward Ocean Excursions is a locally owned, open year round, family business. That means that your money is staying locally in Alaska and specifically Seward. You are supporting the ability of year round boat tours and more out of Seward (we are the only year round commercial boat tour, water taxi, and more company in Seward)! We aren't a huge corporation that spans multiple cities and states.

When you call or email us, you're talking to the owners and captains, not a front desk reservation agent. We will honestly answer your questions and help you plan an awesome trip. The people you talk to on the phone are the crew that will be on the boat with you.

On the boat, you're an active member of the trip. Unlike the big boats, you aren't just a passenger being talked to through a PA system. We are right here on the boat next to you. Have questions? Just ask! Want to go somewhere else, linger with an animal, or change angles for photography? Of course we are here to help you with that.

Our trips run with anywhere from 1 to 6 people. The means that it is a unique, customizable experience. Even with multiple parties on the boat, there's a lot of flexibility in the itinerary. We are never beholden to specific routes, timelines, etc.

We love our "job" (it really doesn't feel like work!) So if you call us at 6PM and want a quick evening trip, we will do it if we can!

Regarding sea sickness, a lot of people think that a smaller boat means more sea sickness. In our experience that is not the case, for a couple reasons! First, you are here with us, and we are pretty good at telling if people start to feel uncomfortable (or you can just tell us!) There's plenty of coastline to explore and we want everyone to be comfortable. Also, we are lower to the water, so the boat sways back and forth less in a swell (the long rolling motion is what upsets people usually).

We love the community of Seward and give back to local charities, sports associations, schools, and the Alaska Sealife Center.

We are a proud member of Whale SENSE, a voluntary education and recognition program for responsible whale watching practices. Seward Ocean Excursions follows and promotes sustainable tourism and has achieved AGA (Adventure Green Alaska) certification.

Don't take our word for it, check out our reviews! We have received the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for many consecutive years.
